Built in the 1930's by the Swiss novelist John Knittel as a family residence, this large villa is enclosed by its own vineyard, an expansive garden, and a sun-drenched, south-facing terrace offering exceptional views of the Alps. The unfurnished villa has 12 rooms on three floors, a working kitchen, and a cellar with vintage wine-making equipment behind blue-white wooden doors. For a period film set, this is truly as good as it gets, but small events are welcome, too!
Other than the villa with its spectacular garden, the property also offers an antique library in a separate guest house and a chalet with more than a few stories to tell. It's located a short drive from the city centre of picturesque Maienfeld, the home of world-famous Heidi, and literally across the road from the eponymous fountain.
