Maximum use quality and variety in a limited space – this requirement leads to using facades beyond their primary function as weather skins: Each takes on a task of its own as a climbing wall, as a stage set for trend sports like skating or streetball, as a photovoltaic system or as an inviting entrance and gallery façade with transparent glazing. Despite these different properties and effects, the facades form a design canon of materials and colours that matches the shell of a large sports hall.
The heterogeneity in the external appearance is contrasted by a homogeneous interior: a magenta-colored, monochrome shell for the central sports and event area with a housing of raw concrete walls. In addition to the photovoltaic façade, an unusual natural ventilation concept for sports halls complements the holistically sustainable approach of the architectural concept.
