CINEMA MITTE

The Cinema Mitte opened in 1963 as a representative premiere light theater of the GDR. The free-standing building was added to the list of historical monuments in 1990 and has been part of the Yorck Kino Group since 1991, which has since ensured its operation as a daily cinema and as a venue for premieres and festivals.

Thanks to its festive and spacious architecture, the cinema is also suitable for numerous other event formats. The entrance area with the staircase hall illuminated by 242 bulbs offers space for accreditation, checkroom and the first drinks for your guests. Two wide staircases lead to the panorama bar. With a view of the TV tower, there is space here for the reception of all guests in a stylish atmosphere, including catering and bar. The huge window front to the south side also makes it ideal as a bright, stylish exhibition space. The cinema hall with its wide stage and modern projection and sound technology is ideal for glamorous award ceremonies as well as for a concentrated congress atmosphere.

Additional rooms are hidden behind wallpaper doors on both floors: on the first floor, the staircase hall connects to the former Bertolt Brecht Library, a converted event space ideal for screenings, after-show parties or as a catering baking area. Hidden to the side of the panorama bar is the Honecker Lounge, the former reception area for international state guests, which is suitable as a VIP area or production office, for example, as it also leads to the auditorium stage and side exit via a hidden staircase.

Thanks to its special architecture, the cinema is also suitable, for example, for gala dinners with up to 150 people, press conferences or for film and photo productions.
