About
-
Markthalle Neun is more than a market – it’s an atmospheric stage full of history and diverse life. The decorative historic front, high iron arches, long aisles lined with market stalls, glass-fronted workshops, and the unmistakable mix of smells and sounds: sourdough fresh from the oven, regional produce stacked high, the buzz of conversations at the counters. It’s a space where Berlin’s food culture becomes tangible—and where the city and its surrounds feel close.
Once threatened with vacancy, the historic 19th-century hall was saved and revived through the initiative of the local community. Today it combines the charm of an old industrial building with the energy of a contemporary, vibrant marketplace. Between its iron columns and vaulted ceilings, you’ll find open bakeries, a butcher’s shop, a brewery, and street food kitchens, all embedded in a living urban neighborhood.
For filming, events, and photo productions, the Markthalle offers a versatile backdrop: authentic, raw, and full of character. From intimate corners and natural daylight to the grandeur of its central nave, the space adapts easily—whether for large-scale productions or small, atmospheric shoots. At its heart, Markthalle Neun embodies what makes Berlin unique: history, creativity, and a vibrant community, all under one roof.
