Secluded on a curvy road by the foot of the fairytale-like Sintra mountains, Marqí is an 1980s mansion turned into a private boutique hotel, with spacious rooms & suites, pool garden (complete with pool bar of course), lobby & bar.
A safe heaven in many ways, Marqí is tucked away in an exotic hillside garden, allowing for both perfect hideaways, countless private spots in the sun and stunning views of the green valley and nearby (and far-away) beaches .
The original owner, being a civil-engineer and a man with many friends, designed the property to entertain, making it suitable to renovate the house with a large lobby and bar area, both with fireplaces, several spacious terraces, and even a club in the basement ‘Nando’s Place’.
It took the vision of a Danish photographer to turn the property into a hotel. A vision of a sun drenched pool garden, vintage interior, analog photography & art, and a sun burned california vibe. And vision of cocktails in the lobby, that feels as if you’re in the (dream) home of a friend. You kind of are - only with the effortless services as those of a hotel.
The renovated mansion now includes 8 spacious rooms & suites – all with private balconies or terraces, and no two units alike. Unique in both layout and design, each rooms is carefully curated with one-of-a-kind vintage pieces and new bathrooms, all with a love for mid-century modern and 70s aesthetics.
LOCATION
Marqí is located in the Lisbon region, a 40 minutes scenic drive from the airport or city center, on Estrada do Rodízio by Praia Grande, on the coastline of Sintra National Park. With stunning views of the ocean and green valley, and a 15 mins charming walk to the beach and nearest restaurants, the hillside location allows for seclusion and privacy.
