About

Originally built as a wooden "Walserhaus" with foundation walls dating back to somewhere between the 14th and 15th century, the house was extended to its current form in 1747. Despite two soft renovations in the 20th century, it retains its rustic charm to this day. From the hand-painted chessboard and floral graffiti on the facade, to the tiny double-glass windows with crooked angles all around and the rugged wooden floorboards in the living room, the House has more stories to tell than the average Swiss holiday home.

For example, the kitchen is characterized by the antique iron wood cooker with Bain-Marie and water tap for filling. While the two hundred-year-old device is fully functional, cooking dinner on it is quite an adventure, so the fully equipped modern kitchen does come in handy. With geothermal heating throughout the house, strong WIFI, three bedrooms for up to five adults, and two bathrooms – one with a massive bathtub and a large en-suite sauna – this vintage farm house offers everything you need for both long weekends or extended Alpine-office stays. And with 22 kW Type 2 charging (400V/32A), your electric car will be ready to roll again much sooner than you are.

Despite the heavy medieval walls, the house gets plenty of sunlight. The large BBQ and seating area and the carefully maintained green garden can be found on the east of the building, the main terrace and the lower garden face south, while an additional romantic patio is tucked in on the west side of the house. Sunbathing around the house is possible almost throughout the day and across the seasons thanks to Alvaneu-Dorf being one of the most sun-exposed villages in central Grisons.
