MMM - Dolomites

Monte Rite (2181 m) rises in the heart of the Dolomites, between Pieve di Cadore and Cortina d'Ampezzo. From its summit plateau there is a 360 ° panoramic view of the most spectacular peaks in the Dolomites: Monte Schiara, Monte Agnèr, Monte Civetta, Marmolata, Monte Pelmo, Tofana di Rozes, Sorapis, Antelao, Marmarole. It is therefore not surprising that the MMM Dolomites deals with the subject of rock. The museum in the old fort is dedicated to the development history of the Dolomites, told on the basis of the researchers and climbers who made alpine history with their discoveries and first ascents.
The heart of the museum is a large gallery of unique images of the Dolomites from the Romantic era to the present day. Windows open between the paintings with a fantastic view of the peaks outside. 250 million year old Claraia shells and other fossils are a reminder that the Dolomites were once coral sticks in a tropical sea.
