MAISON UNAL

Also known as the Bubble House or Papa Beard House, due to it’s organic shapes like mushrooms-like bubbles.

Located in the heart of a forest, this mind bending house consists of several rounded shapes, almost spherical, intertwined, laid without foundations, directly on the rock. Built in concrete veil applied by hand to a steel frame, its shapes seem to fit the curves originating from the ground to integrate into the landscape.

The house consists of an entrance, a living room with a pass to the kitchen, three bedrooms, one with terrace and independent exit, two bathrooms, a living room-workshop of 60 m2, a rest hammock, a library and a cellar. The spaces are served by two traffic tunnels, and have four chimneys. The house also benefits from a swimming pool with an island and a beach, a spa, and more than 150 m2 of terraces including a solarium and a tower with 360° views of the panorama, from Mont Blanc to Mont Lozère. There is even a space that has been set up for children: small tables and chairs, a small library...

The inside is reminiscent of the hat of a mushroom. At the bottom a spiral staircase leading to an intimate space and openings to the walls bring in just the right amount of natural light. The area covers 156 m2, inside mosaics and paintings adorn and colour the white structure and outside, the pool overlooks the Ardèche landscape...

Construction began in 1973, completed in 2008.

In 2003, the building was awarded with the "Heritage of the 20th Century" label.

In 2010 it was listed as a historical monument.

In 2022 the Bubble house was listed with PLUSH74, now available for photoshoots !
