About
-
This modern penthouse in Wedding, Berlin is elegant and luminous. It features an internal raw concrete staircase that leads up to a rooftop with an extended view over the city. The minimalistic design is skillfully contrasted and complemented with a warm wooden parquet floor. The glass window facing the street reaches from floor to ceiling and provides ample daylight. The modern concrete house was built on top of the old ruins of the light bulb manufacturer Osram, which was partially destroyed during the Second World War. The contrast between the old, listed brick façade and the new building is both striking and balanced. The penthouse belongs to the architect Thomas Baecker, that realized this stunning building.
